Spring Pest Control - Advice From Norwich Pest Control Specialists
As our charming British weather starts to finally warm up, you might start to find a few new friends entering your home or garden. This article will explain a few of the bugs and insects you might start seeing and how to deal with them.
Mining/Mortor Bees
This is a solitary bee, so while they live in close proximity, the females always live alone. After they have mated at around May/June, they nest their eggs in cracks and holes in the walls, sealing them up after themselves before they die. When Spring comes round the next year, the eggs hatch and break through the seal of the nest and begin the process again.
You don't need to be afraid of these critters – they aren't aggressive and don't sting. They look a little bit like wasps but they are large than bumble bees.
If you think you have a nest of Mining/Mortar bees, keep an eye on the nest in case the holes they are using are causing damage to your property. By sealing the holes up, you prevent the bees from nesting there again.
May Bugs
May bugs looks like brown beetles that fly around outside and inside. They make a very loud buzzing noise and can be easily mistaken for cockroaches.
While the may bug may be startling in appearance, they are not aggressive and cannot harm humans. The best way to get rid of them is to shoo them out!
Honey Bees
Honey bees, often confused for bumble bees are smaller and can often belong to a beekeeper. If you see a honey bee, please refrain from getting out the bug spray and contact a local beekeeper or pest control company first to avoid killing someone's swarm that has escaped.
If you are nervous about treating any pest control problem, contact a specialist who will be able to help you get rid of those pests safely and quickly. It might seem easier to buy a can of cheap insect spray but these chemicals can be harmful to the environment and to pets you may have. It is recommended to use organic pest control products in your garden especially if you are growing vegetables that you plan to eat.
